Maximizing Small SpacesJanuary 25, 2017 | by Brooke Willmes
When it comes to living in a smaller home, it may take a bit of creativity to get the most out of the space and feel as comfortable as possible while living in it. Luckily, Apartment Therapy is always willing to share tips for those that may be struggling with maximizing the uses of their smaller spaces; found on the ‘Small Spaces’ tab on the website. To save some time, below is a list of a few of our favorites:
- Use an empty closet for a mini-office. After installing a little desk of even a wooden slab into the closet and adding a few personal touches, simply pull up a chair and there you have it!
- Reduce clutter and save space with a small wall-mounted shelf in the entryway of your home to hold keys, mail, glasses, and other miscellaneous items.
- Using furniture that doubles as storage or furniture where you can hide things (clutter) in. For example, a coffee table where the ‘table’ lifts and reveals a big black hole of storage space.
- Finally, mix furniture heights- it makes small rooms appear larger!
